Apple’s October Releases: Everything you need to know

As we near the end of the year, Apple continue to keep us excited for their new  products.

In this week’s blog, we compile all the products announced in the final Apple release of the tech season this year.

Introduction

From the spring event till now, we have seen Apple release new iPad Air, iPhone 14 models, AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra and more which you can read more in our previous blog. But the releases do not stop there.

In a quick release, Apple announced the updates for three significant product lines: the iPad, iPad Pro, and Apple TV.

M2 iPad Pro

The announcement of the M2 chips has readily started to make its way into current Apple products this year. According to Apple, the M2 chip with the new iPad Pro has up to 15% faster CPU performance and up to 35% faster GPU performance and with a new media engine, the ‌iPad Pro‌ can capture ProRes video for the first time, and encode the footage up to three times faster compared to the M1 iPad Pro.

On the new iPad Pro, the second-generation Apple Pencil is now detected while it hovers up to 12mm above the display, allowing users to see a preview of their drawing before they make it. The new M2 iPad Pro is also the first Apple device of its kind with Wi-Fi 6E, with Apple advertising download speeds of up to 2.4Gbps to support more demanding workflows anywhere.

There still remains the Thunderbolt port, four speakers, Face ID, and a rear Smart Connector and a physical nano-SIM card tray as seen in previous Apple iPad models.

iPad 10th Gen Redesigned

The 10th-generation ‌iPad‌ features an all-new design with flat sides and a larger, 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display like the iPad Air and iPad Pro. The new ‌iPad‌ comes alongside the all-new Magic Keyboard Folio and supports the first-generation Apple Pencil only.

The ‌iPad‌ gains the A14 Bionic chip, the ultra Wide 12MP front-facing camera located along the landscape edge of the ‌iPad‌ for a better video calling experience, an updated rear-facing 12MP camera, 4K video recording, a USB-C port, landscape two-speaker audio, 5G connectivity on cellular models, and Wi-Fi 6.

Apple TV

The Apple TV is set to bring Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, Apple Music and your favourite streaming apps all in one.

Now introduced in Apple TV, the A15 Bionic chip seen in the iPhone 13 model range and iPhone 14 and 14 Plus gives 4K  "faster performance and more fluid gameplay," according to Apple as it contains a new 4GB of RAM. The efficiency gains of the A15 allow the ‌Apple TV‌ to provide a thinner, lighter, fanless design for the first time, and it uses almost 30 percent less power than the previous generation.

Alongside your iPhone, control of the Apple TV  goes even further. Convenient built-in controls appear on the Lock Screen of your iPhone and in the Control Centre — so you can easily play, pause, fast-forward, rewind and adjust the volume on your TV.

Apple 4K TV

macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16

Mentioned in our previous blog, macOS Ventura is set to come with a plethora of notable updates to iMacs as well as helping out some bugs seen in the Thunderbolt docks for CalDigit.

Apple have also announced the release of iPad OS 16 however, this release has been pushed to the same release date as macOS Ventura. Stage Manager ‌is the biggest new addition coming to ‌iPadOS 16‌ that offers users of select ‌iPad‌ models a new windowing system for apps and therefore required more refinement than past iPad OS updates.

‌iPadOS 16‌ also brings the Weather app to the ‌iPad‌ and the ability to edit and unsend Messages, which is also available on iOS 16 and macOS Ventura.

macOS Ventura will be available on Monday, October 24, the same day that iPadOS 16 will be available to iPad customers.
